More Info
This exhibition explores the concept of ‘precious’ in an age of waste and mass consumption. It questions material value, highlights the impact of climate change, and celebrates the use of recycled and repurposed materials.
The idea for the exhibition What Is Precious? emerged from discussions within Design-Nation’s Sustainability & Ethical Practice group; a platform that enables Design-Nation members to exchange ideas, gain insights from peers, and draw inspiration from exemplary sustainable practices.
Featuring diverse works across ceramics, textiles, jewellery, paper, and mixed media, this exhibition showcases artists who embrace sustainability and innovation. The featured artists include Bridget Bailey, Balanced-Earth, Caroline Brogden, Emily Smith, Jade Mellor, Jane Bevan, Joanne Lamb, Julie Massie, Kate Kato, Kirsty Adams, Lindsey Mann, Liz Stovell, Nerissa Cargill Thompson, Nicki Jarvis, Rachel Morley, Rosalind Stoddart, Sarah Burton, Su France, and Suzy Agar.
The exhibition is a collaboration between Design-Nation and New Ashgate.
