Ali Tomlin ceramics

My work is a collection of elegant, contemporary, colourful porcelain forms ranging from small stem vases to large vases, bowls, platters and lights. I use stains, oxides and slips, sponging and scraping colours and inlaying lines, working both on the wheel to capture a feeling of movement and experimenting with monoprinting and mark making techniques. Surfaces are unglazed, with a soft, matt surface.

Part of porcelain’s beauty is its translucency which is perfect for lighting. I make lights for domestic use or working with interior designers for commercial settings.

My studio is in my garden in The Sands, where I have work on display and being made.
